In my last trip to Portugal and Spain, I shared my brother’s book “A Máquina da Natureza” with lots of people.
Whenever I mentioned that the book is not just a typical computer science book, but one that introduces computer science in an unusual way — not as a branch of engineering, but as a discipline that reaches into philosophy and the natural sciences, exploring the connection with human consciousness and thought, the reaction was always the same: people got wild about it!!
Ok, but what actually “exploring the connection with human consciousness and thought” even mean? One more thing: you know what’s even more crazy? I helped review this book, and it won the Prêmio Jabuti, Brazil’s most prestigious book award. Still can’t quite believe it. Excuse me while I kiss the sky. What an honor!
